We're bringing the sport of lawn bowls to Folsom, California! This project will introduce a beloved global sport to our community and provide year-round outdoor recreation for all ages and abilities.
We're in the early stages of building community support and working with the City of Folsom to identify a park location. Help us reach our goal of 200 founding supporters!
Lawn Bowls, also known as Bowls or Lawn Bowling, is a sport that goes back to at least the 13th century. Players roll a "bowl" (similar to a ball) down a field of grass, known as a "Bowling Green", attempting to have their bowls closer to a small target ball called "the jack" than their opponents.
Bowls look like balls but are not completely round. They have a slight bias to one side that causes the bowls to "curl" in the direction of the bias as they decelerate — creating a beautiful, arcing path across the green.
Think of it as a combination of Curling (but played on grass) and Bocce (but played on a larger green, and the bowls curl). It's relaxing, strategic, and endlessly engaging.

Lawn bowls is one of the most inclusive sports in the world. It can be played by people of any ability, ages 8 and up. The Folsom Lawn Bowls Club is committed to making the sport available to everyone in our community, regardless of ability or experience.
We are currently in discussions with the City of Folsom Parks & Recreation Department about establishing a bowling green at one of Folsom's beautiful parks. The specific location will be determined through the planning process.
Our goal is a facility that includes:
We're in the very early stages and haven't set formal membership dues yet. Our focus right now is building community interest and working with the City. Signing up as a founding supporter is completely free and comes with no obligation.
This is a 3-5 year passion project. We're currently in the community outreach and City partnership phase. Construction of a green would follow site selection, design, permitting, and fundraising. We'll keep all supporters updated on progress.
The most important thing right now is showing community interest. Sign up below to be counted as a supporter. You can also help by spreading the word, attending future pop-up events, or volunteering your skills (landscaping, event planning, marketing, etc.).
